The boat departs everyday from Moreno Port, located down the Perito Moreno Catwalks on the Témpanos Canal. From there, our boat gets to the front of the north wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier to appreciate the rupture zone, the height of its walls and its beautiful detachments.
The Perito Moreno Glacier is situated in the extreme south of the province of Santa Cruz, in front of the Peninsula of Magallanes, 78 km. from El Calafate, Unique for its beauty and grandeur, this glacier shows a surprising and curious phenomenon, in which its large mass of ice continuously advances, causing the accumulation, rupture and detachment of giant blocks of ice from its front of 5 km wide. The height of the glacier exceeds 60 meters above the lake level, from where chunks of various sizes fall continuously, producing a stridency comparable to the sound of thunder.
