4x4 midday excursion along the coast of Lake Argentino. Ideal for the day of arrival or departure, it has an anthropological approach, making a journey through time on the passage of man in these lands, re-discovering stories of the first expeditions and daring that ventured into the unknown.
Among the cliffs and with views of the Andes Mountains, the excursion focuses on the first contacts of those expeditionaries with the natives, to then enter the Tehuelche world. On the shores of the lake are the caves where thousands of years ago that culture left its marks on the rock and which today introduce us to its interpretation.
This excursion begins with the pick up of passengers from the hotels in El Calafate, where in 4x4 vehicles we will travel through the 25 de Mayo natural reserve while our expert guide tells us about the passage of man through these lands.< br>
We make an ascent to obtain an incredible panoramic image of the city and its surroundings. We will make our first photo stop on a cliff, from where we will appreciate the extension of Lake Argentino and the Andes Mountains.
We will continue our journey to Punta Walichu, an archaeological site where, through a walking tour of approximately 500 meters, we will observe and interpret with the guide the cave paintings that we see on the rocks and the different techniques that were used to make them.
Finally, we will arrive at a cave that is located within this archaeological zone, where, having impressive views of the Argentine Lake, we will enjoy a unique three-course lunch/dinner, ending an experience that immersed us in a vivid way in the practices of the first explorers.
The gastronomic part consists of the following menu:
- Starter: Homemade pumpkin soup
- Main course: Lamb casserole with vegetables.
- Dessert: Chocolate mousse.
- Drinks: Wine, juice and mineral water.
