Get to know the different ways to enjoy one of the youngest towns in Argentina, declared the National Capital of Trekking.
This is a journey that starts early in the morning, from El Calafate. We will take the mythical Route 40 bordering Lake Argentino and we will start a trip to the town of El Chaltén, 220 km away from El Calafate. On our way, we will cross the Santa Cruz River, and we will stop for a few minutes at Estancia La Leona, next to the river with the same name. There we will have a bathing stop and you can enjoy homemade cakes and something hot to drink (not included). Then we will continue on our way to El Chaltén, bordering Lake Viedma with its homonymous glacier. During the tour, if the weather allows, we will have impressive views of the Chaltén Hills (also known as Fitz Roy) and Torre, as well as the Viedma Glacier, and its impressive icebergs. We will arrive at the mountain village El Chaltén after 3 hours of travel.
There we will have 7 hours to visit and enjoy the place, self-guided. El Chaltén has several possible trails to do at this time: Mirador de los Cóndores, Mirador de las Águilas, Chorrillo del Salto (all of them of low difficulty), and for those who want to demand a little more, they can visit the Lagoon Capri (8 km round trip), as part of the path to Fitz Roy and Laguna de los Tres.
To return, we will all meet at a meeting point set in advance, and we will return to El Calafate, arriving at approximately 9:00 p.m.
